NBA DFS: Studs, scrubs, and duds for March 3
Duds
Kawhi Leonard (at OKC – $9,200 on DK; $9,100 on FD): Kawhi always has big game potential but this feels more like a Paul George game where other guys chip in as well than Kawhi needing to have a big game. There’s plenty of good value on Tuesday and Kawhi’s price is too high for my liking given the guys around him.
Pascal Siakam (at PHO – $8,700 on DK; $8,200 on FD): With the Raptors role players stepping up, Siakam hasn’t had to do quite as much. He obviously has a high ceiling and it’s a great matchup, but it’s not a game where Siakam needs to be great and that’s what concerns me. There is more guaranteed value elsewhere with guys who also have a high ceiling.
Deandre Ayton (vs TOR – $8,400 on DK; $8,600 on FD): Ayton has been inconsistent as of late and I don’t exactly trust him in this matchup. The Raptors are good against the position and Ayton’s inconsistencies are too big to ignore. There’s plenty of good value elsewhere on this night. Take a risk with Ayton if you want because someone does have to step up for the Suns.
Tobias Harris (at LAL – $8,200 on DK; $7,300 on FD): Harris is another guy with too many inconsistencies against a good matchup. Someone has to get numbers for the Sixers but Harris is streaky and doesn’t do enough in the other categories to be a reliable option. Because of that, it’s tough to trust him given the matchup and the guys around him.
Caris LeVert (at BOS – $7,200 on DK; $6,300 on FD): Caris has fallen off in a big way and his salary remains way too high for what he’s giving you right now. It’s a tough matchup against Boston although it could be a little easier if Tatum doesn’t end up playing. Even if Tatum is out, LeVert just hasn’t been good enough in the last two games to justify this salary.
