2020 NFL Draft: Green Bay Packers 7-round mock
By Conor Dorney
A quarterback mocked to the Aaron Rodgers-led Green Bay Packers? I’m expecting the authorities to arrive at my door shortly.
Florida International’s James Morgan is one of the biggest risers at the quarterback position and could very well end up as the first quarterback off the board following the main group of first-rounders (Burrow, Tua, Herbert, and Love).
Morgan has a cannon and all of the intangibles you look for in a developmental quarterback. Would taking Morgan be an indictment of how the team feels about Aaron Rodgers? Of course not. But the reality is that Rodgers is 36 years old and LaFleur could be at least entertaining the idea of figuring out a plan for his eventual successor.
While I could certainly see this pick being another wide receiver or offensive lineman, this is probably the range we see Morgan taken. And if the Packers feel he fits what they’re looking to develop, they won’t hesitate to pull the trigger.
