Fourth Round

Quintez Cephus. 30. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Wide Receiver. Wisconsin. 110. player

There is tremendous depth at the wide receiver class this year, which is fantastic for a team like the Jets. The organization is in serious need of offensive weapons, and they will double down on the position here by drafting Quintez Cephus in the fourth round.

Although not as big as Michael Pittman, who we mocked to the Jets in the second round, Cephus does have some speed on his side. Cephus ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, an impressive time for a receiver who is 6-feet tall and weighs 205 pounds.

The offensive numbers for Cephus in 2019 weren’t overwhelming, as he caught 59 passes for 901 yards and seven touchdowns, but they were solid in Wisconsin’s run-first offense. There are some off-field concerns with Cephus, however, who sat out the entire 2018 season due to sexual assault allegations.

The chargers were dropped prior to this season, but having that incident in his past may cause Cephus to tumble down draft boards. Any interested team will do a deep background check to ensure that Cephus won’t have issues as a pro.

If Cephus’ background check doesn’t reveal any red flags, it could be a tremendous value pick for the Jets. Darnold needs talented pass-catchers in order to take the leap from good quarterback to great quarterback, and Cephus can certainly help that cause.
