Big East

  • Dates: March 11-14
  • Location: New York, NY
  • Top Seed: Creighton

The Big East is a beast once again, and this tournament might be the most fun of the entire week. The league hasn’t been quite the same since it was reformed as a non-football conference in 2013, but the basketball in it this season has been incredible.

There was a three-way tie atop the Big East standings between Creighton, Villanova, and Seton Hall for the top spot. All three squads claim a share of the regular-season title, but Creighton won the tiebreaker to get the top seed, with Villanova down at two and the Pirates coming in at three.

The team that has gotten the most heat as a potential Final Four threat in this conference is Seton Hall, which has arguably the deepest roster in the Big East, but the Pirates just dropped a pair of games to Villanova and Creighton. Jay Wright has Villanova humming again as March rolls around while Creighton, which was picked seventh in the conference’s preseason polls, stormed to the top on the strength of an explosive offense.

The sleeper here is Providence, which is the hottest team in the Big East right now, but at the end of the day, Seton Hall is simply the deepest team. That will be a major factor in trying to win three games in three days.

Prediction: Seton Hall
