San Francisco 49ers

The Niners are at the other end of the spectrum from the Dolphins. They have only one pick in the first four rounds of the draft and, per Spotrac, have only $18m in cap space to work with.

Still, trading for Hopkins is exactly the kind of move the reigning NFC Champions should be looking to make.

San Francisco could be about to lose Emmanuel Sanders in free agency and, beyond Deebo Samuel and restricted free agent Kendrick Bourne, do not have a reliable receiver on the depth chart.

Hopkins’ dominance in coming down with contested catches is a trait the 49ers have long lacked at receiver. He would add another dimension to one of the league’s most explosive offenses.

The thought of pairing Hopkins with George Kittle is a mouth-watering one. The Niners would likely need to get very creative to construct an offer the Texans would be receptive to. If they cannot re-sign Arik Armstead then trading him to Houston, along with picks, could be an avenue to acquiring Hopkins.
