16. Chris Chiozza: No. 4 Florida vs. No. 8 Wisconsin – 2017 Sweet 16

Watching this game from start to finish was an absolute roller coaster of emotions. There was a buzzer-beater, a massive comeback, a game-tying shot with seconds left, a group of seniors looking for one last ride and a shot we will remember for a long time.

Let’s start with the other storylines before getting to Florida’s miraculous shot. Wisconsin may have been an eight seed, but they were on a run, and one of the most experienced teams in the tournament with four seniors getting regular playing time. All four were in the Sweet Sixteen every season of their college career.

The Badgers went up quickly, taking an 11-point lead in the first half. It didn’t last long, and the Gators made a run to actually going into halftime with a two-point lead. They took the momentum into the second half, taking a ten-point lead themselves. Wisconsin made their own comeback, down eight with roughly 90 seconds left. They hit two 3-pointers and a layup to tie the game. The second three came with about two seconds left, making it look like Zak Showalter was going to be the star coming out of this game.

In overtime, Wisconsin made two free throws to put them ahead with just four seconds left.  That’s when Chris Chiozza just put the game on his hands. He ran down the court, jumped from the top of the key, right outside the three-point line, and finally took the shot near the foul line, never touching the ground. It was a 3-pointer and a win for the Gators.

It was an incredible game that ended with an even better shot.
