With Tom Brady out in New England, Jameis Winston makes perfect sense as the quarterback of the future. He would certainly make the offense exciting again.

Early on Tuesday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady announced his departure in two Twitter posts thanking fans and the Patriots organization.

Brady has not yet announced where he will play in the 2020 season, but all hints point to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Los Angeles Chargers.

If Brady were to join the Buccaneers, which seems a strong possibility, it leaves the question of what to do with current quarterback Jameis Winston. Tampa Bay head coach Bruce Arians has said he could move on from Winston if they could find a better quarterback, and who better than one of the greatest of all time?

Winston may have the option to stay and learn behind Brady for a season or two to help him become a better decision-maker and passer, but the likelihood is he would try to find another suitor.

What better team would there be for Jameis than the one Brady is leaving?

Winston has been reckless with the football, although he does have an incredible arm and can make a litany of difficult throws. He proved it this past season by being the first quarterback ever to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in a single campaign.

If Patriots head coach and GM Bill Belichick would be willing to take a chance on the young quarterback, he could very well have his new quarterback of the future. Working with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could help Winston improve his decision-making and tap into his big-play ability.

The Patriots’ offense might not currently have the playmakers Winston is used having, but Belichick is smart enough to build around the talent of his players and would put pieces around Winston to highlights his abilities.

Winston occasionally looks awful. Conversely, though, he can also look like one of the best. The problem is he tends to shift between the two at random points.

To go from Brady to an improved and mistake-reduced Winston would be a solid move for the Patriots, all things considered.
