According to one report, Tom Brady will be signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2020 season.

While the initial days of NFL free agency are off to a fun start with offensive weapons changing hands and several big trades, the big story was always where Tom Brady would land.

The longtime Patriots quarterback announced Tuesday morning that he would be leaving New England, and it had been known for a while that proximity to his family in New York would be a key factor in Brady’s decision.

According to Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd, that was just one of the factors that ultimately led to Brady’s decision to sign in Tampa Bay.

“It’s not a ‘pow’ city, but Tom does want to be as close to his family as he can be,” Cowherd said on his radio show Tuesday. “So when you look at all these offers, the two-hour flight to New York City where his family is, is Tampa.”

Considering part of Brady’s displeasure with the Patriots was that despite his frequent pay decreases, the offense did not have enough talent to succeed, it’s not surprise the Buccaneers’ roster would be alluring to the soon to be 43-year-old quarterback.

The source Cowherd references is an “icon source.” Somebody who, according to Cowherd, is “somebody in Tom’s stratosphere, that knows Tom, that is a famous person, and he says Tampa.”

The biggest name in free agency, with Brady available for the first time ever, is heading to Tampa Bay to join Bruce Arians, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. There, Brady will be close to his family, have plenty of weapons and a strong coordinator, as well as an opportunity with all of that to compete right away.

Though other organizations perhaps offer him more glamour or celebrity, Brady will be the talk of football no matter where he goes. It appears he has a season or two left in him, and the Buccaneers seem to have locked him up.
