86. player. Scouting Report. RB. Utah. Zach Moss. 843. Pick Analysis

This is earlier than most prognosticators have Moss going, but his numbers are going to boost his status. He’s a powerful running with excellent change of direction range. That combination makes him a great piece for the budding Bills offense.

Moss was likely to enter the draft early before an injury derailed his junior season. In 2019, Moss gained over 1,800 yards and scored 17 touchdowns, good enough to be named Third-Team All-American and First-Team Pac-12.

Of Moss, NFL.com analysis says “watching Moss’ game tape is like watching an exercise in controlled violence on just about every carry, but his vision, balance, patience and wiggle are additional skills that help to make him a well-rounded runner.”

His injury history makes him more likely to excel in a complimentary role, making a pairing with Buffalo’s Devin Singletary perfect. While he is talented enough to be a feature back, it makes more sense long term to split his carries.

Buffalo could role the dice here and hope Moss is around for their fourth-round pick, but taking that gamble doesn’t make sense when your team needs are relatively few and the board value goes up from here for wide receivers and tight ends. They may ultimately lament not getting a pass-rusher here, but the upside for Moss is too much to pass on.
