Atlanta Hawks: Working in Capela

To this point, the 2019-20 Atlanta Hawks have basically just been the Trae Young Show. It’s entertaining, and it’s clear he’s going to be a winning player with the right pieces around him, but so far, those complementary youngsters just aren’t good enough or ready to contribute to winning basketball.

Bringing back Dewayne Dedmon was a nice touch as a competent, floor-spacing, rim-protecting big, but Hawks fans should be chomping at the bit to see a healthy Clint Capela back on the floor and figuring out what he can do in pick-and-roll scenarios with Trae Young.

A team like the Hawks will be praying the rest of the regular season isn’t shortened so they can get plenty of reps with Young and a healthy Capela, as well as figure out whether John Collins at the 4 is a viable fit with the former Rockets big man. Plus, we’re not emotionally ready for the possibility that Vince Carter has already played his last game.
