2020 NFL Draft: 5 players Bills could take in Round 1
3. Andrew Thomas
Thomas isn’t the most polished offensive tackle in this draft, but he possesses a mean streak that will really appeal to the Bills. They’d be happy to select him and work with him to harness his significant potential.
Thomas played his best football at Georgia at left tackle and he should be given the opportunity to stay there at the next level. Interestingly, his pass blocking is ahead of his run blocking at this stage of the game. That’s different than what you typically see from offensive lineman with his nasty streak.
That doesn’t mean he’s going to push Dion Dawkins out of a starting job anytime soon. Instead, the Bills should prepare him to be their swing tackle in 2020. Adding a young player capable of providing depth for both Dawkins and Cody Ford would be shrewd roster building by Buffalo.
In a perfect world, the Bills could snag a tackle late in Round 1 that could play right away and boost their offensive line. There isn’t an interior lineman who makes sense where Buffalo currently stands. That means Thomas could be the guy if he’s available at No. 22.
