Wide receiver isn’t the only position the Saints can address with their first-round pick. Adding a talented cornerback would also be a solid move for New Orleans. Igbinoghene represents an intriguing option for them at 24.

The Saints would be a great landing spot for the former Auburn star. Marshon Lattimore and Janoris Jenkins should be able to hold down the team’s starting spots next year. That would allow Igbinoghene to learn the ropes of life in the NFL at his own pace.

The key for the Saints would be making sure he’s ready to contribute down the stretch. A modest improvement in his technique could make him a really good No. 3 cornerback by the time the playoffs roll around.

Igbinoghene doesn’t have star potential, but that’s not what the Saints are going to get at cornerback this late in Round 1. Could New Orleans try to trade up to grab a higher rated pass defender? Never rule that out for a team that wants to maximize Brees’ window.
