4. Find the team’s No. 1 wide receiver

It was arguably the most shocking move of this NFL offseason. Bill O’Brien has certainly take his share of criticism, be it his game plans or his brief stint as the club’s general manager. But the fact remains that the Houston Texans have won the AFC South four times over the past five seasons. Is it despite the current man in charge? That might be a little harsh considering he’s done it with different quarterbacks and injuries to some key personnel.

But now Houston’s sideline leader enters his seventh year on the job minus arguably the club’s best and most consistent offensive weapon since O’Brien became the franchise’s head coach in 2014.

So never mind the fact that the Texans didn’t seem to get old lot of bang for their draft-pick buck when it came to their deal with the Arizona Cardinals, the idea that they dealt wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins at all was stunning enough. The four-time Pro Bowler has been named All-Pro each of the past three seasons.

Over that span, mostly with Deshaun Watson pulling the trigger, there have been 315 receptions for 4,115 yards and 31 scores in 46 regular-season outings. There have been 632 catches, 54 for touchdowns, in seven NFL campaigns.

Of course, the cupboard is not totally bare as the Texans feature wideouts Kenny Stills, oft-injured Will Fuller and free-agent pickup Randall Cobb. So who will become Watson’s go-to guy this season?
