1. Matt Dumba

Team: Minnesota Wild
Position: D
Age: 25

Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of the 2020 offseason lies in its capacity to usher forth a measure of resolution with respect to the future of Matt Dumba.

The 25-year-old is certainly a player that the Minnesota Wild organization would ideally like to keep. He plays a relatively steady two-way game and boasts an offensive upside that often has the potential to be something to write home about. In other words, when Dumba is on, he is on.

Nevertheless, Dumba continues to be a subject of the speculative variety among trade circles.

Coming off a challenging 2019-20 season — during which he totaled just six goals and 18 assists for 24 points in 69 games played — the defender shall look to the summer ahead as an opportunity to refocus, as he aims to flourish in the spirit of productive past campaigns. But given the widespread need for dependable, right-shot defensemen across the league, it is not unreasonable to assume that other organizations shall entertain a move for Minnesota’s most head-turning asset.

A trade involving Dumba would be dynamic-altering — not only for the Wild, but also for the sport at large. As such, expect to hear more rumblings about No. 24 in the upcoming months.
