50. . Cornerback. Detroit Lions. Jeffrey Okudah. 3. player

The Detroit Lions did what everyone knew they would this past week, as they traded away star cornerback Darius Slay to the Philadelphia Eagles. Slay was unhappy with the Lions, and had been asking to be moved, so trading him away was probably the best thing for the team moving forward.

With pick No. 3 overall, the Lions can replace Slay immediately, bringing in the best cornerback in the entire draft class. In fact, Jeffrey Okudah from Ohio State is the only cornerback talent who should hear his name called in the first ten picks, and with a gaping hole at the position group, the Lions should stay put at 3.

Of course, the team could end up getting an offer they cannot refuse, as there are teams behind them in the draft that desperately need a quarterback. Head coach Matt Patricia is firmly on the hot seat entering his third season at the helm, so he cannot afford to get this draft season wrong, especially picking this high.

4. player. 31. . Offensive Tackle. New York Giants. Tristan Wirfs

The New York Giants have done a nice job bolstering the defensive side of the ball, and though they head into the draft with holes on their roster, they are in much better shape than they were when the offseason started. New head coach Joe Judge is looking to make an impact in Year 1, but they need to get better protection up front on offense if they are really going to turn the corner.

Tristan Wirfs put on an absolute show during the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine, and many believe he will be the first offensive tackle off the board. The New York Giants have a desperate need for help on the offensive line, and in Wirfs, they get the guy who can protect Daniel Jones’ blindside for the foreseeable future.

The Giants have used top picks on the offensive side of the ball the last two drafts, bringing in Jones last April, and running back Saquon Barkley the year before. Wirfs fills a void on this roster immediately, and if Judge wants to get the most out of Jones, he has to make protecting him priority No. 1.
