Marcus Smart announces he’s ‘cleared’ of coronavirus

Boston Celtics player, Marcus Smart, announces he’s been “cleared” of coronavirus just one week after he went public with his diagnosis.

One of the many NBA stars who was confirmed to have the coronavirus has announced he’s been cleared of the virus. The Boston Celtics player, Marcus Smart, took to Twitter just one week after announcing his diagnosis to the world.

“Corona free as of two days ago,” Smart wrote on his official Twitter. “Cleared by [Massachusetts] Dept of Health. Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and prayers and I’m doing the same for everyone that’s been effected (sic) by this. Stay safe and stay together apart. Much love.”

Smart was one of a few players last week to test positive, the same day he announced he was sick two members of the Los Angeles Lakers, one member of the Denver Nuggets and three members of the Philadelphia 76ers also were reported to have the virus.

On Saturday night the New York Knicks owner, James Dolan, announced he had tested positive as well. Dolan is the first NBA team owner to announce his diagnosis.

The NBA shutdown began after Rudy Gobert and another player was diagnosed with COVID-19. They were the first major American sporting league to shutter its doors due to the virus and most other sports have followed suit.
