Fourth Round

Scouting Report. Eno Benjamin. 111. 854. Pick Analysis. RB. Arizona State. player

Eno Benjamin is a somewhat under-the-radar prospect. He’s expected to be selected somewhere in the middle rounds, but he has the potential to develop into a feature back in the league. Currently, newly-acquired David Johnson and Duke Johnson sit atop the Texans depth chart at the position, and they may look to add some younger depth with big play potential.

There are some big name free agents still available like Lamar Miller, Devonta Freeman, Theo Riddick, etc. That said, the Texans may be wiser to spend the draft capital on a back that could become their top option.

In college, Benjamin rushed for over 1,000 yards in each of the last two seasons. He also had double-digit touchdowns on the ground in each of those years. Benjamin is possibly the most elusive back available in the draft this season, and he has incredible big play ability. At 5-foot-9, the toughness this back displays on contact surprises many, as he is willing to fight for every additional yard he can get.

At the NFL level, Benjamin will have to focus on becoming more decisive, as sometimes even his own Sun Devils teammates had no idea where he was headed.

It’s entirely possible Benjamin is gone long before this selection, as some mock drafts have him as a third-round prospect. Others, though, have him slipping into this range. There are other running backs that would be available in this area (Anthony McFarland, Maryland; Joshua Kelley, UCLA), but if Benjamin is available the Texans would be crazy to pass on someone with his talents.
