USA. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 24. 6-foot-6 | G. LaMelo Ball. 1

The Chicago Bulls should just go best player available here. Their current young pieces are interesting but haven’t moved the needle much in terms of being competitive. Not that this would stop them from taking LaMelo Ball, but for what it’s worth, last year’s lottery pick — guard Coby White — is probably better suited off-ball anyway. The two could definitely coexist. Zach LaVine probably becomes expendable at this point, and with the veteran not bringing many additional wins to Chicago in his time there, he might be better suited taking a lesser role on a better team anyways. From the Bulls’ perspective, you wouldn’t want LaVine chucking 24 shots a game when you need to develop Ball and White.

We don’t know for sure yet, but Ball looks to be up to 6-foot-7 with around a 6-foot-10 wingspan, meaning he can slide to multiple spots defensively. His primary role in the NBA projects to be a shot creator, and he would presumably slide into a starting guard role with Chicago. Ball could represent a reset in culture if the Bulls were to get this lucky.
