Tom Holland and Jake Gyllenhaal are passing the time in quarantine with the shirtless Insta t-shirt challenge. Ryan Reynolds, respectfully, is not.

Remember last summer, a million years ago, when the internet was smitten with the Marvel-made best friendship of Spider-Man: Far From Home co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Tom Holland? You will be delighted to know the two are still pals — at least still good enough pals to do shirtless handstands at each other’s request.

Our story begins Wednesday afternoon, when Tom Holland participated in the latest time-filler: the Insta t-shirt challenge.

Sidebar: What is the t-shirt challenge? Glad you asked. The t-shirt challenge, like all the best viral challenges, is incredibly simple. You do a handstand with your feet against a wall (or no wall, if you’re really a beast) and then you put a t-shirt on whilst in the handstand position. If you’re still confused, don’t worry, we have videos.

Tom Holland was challenged by a director named Ollie Gardner and posted his video on his Instagram Live on Wednesday. Tom, after struggling for a good while, finally succeeds in putting on a shirt. Well done to Tom.

Holland, in turn, challenged Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal and another actor not yet part of the superhero family, Harrison Osterfield.

Reynolds promptly responded with a simple, “no.”

Fair play to Reynolds.

Gyllenhaal, however, accepted the challenge (after some confusion over what it was he was supposed to do) and posted his video Thursday afternoon, much to delight of the internet.

Gyllenhaal ended by nominating a truly chaotic trio to continue the challenge: Hugh Jackman, 50 Cent and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Which means, of course, that while Deadpool has opted out, the dream of a Wolverine t-shirt challenge is now alive.
