Fantasy football 2020 NFC East depth charts and breakout players
By Bill Pivetz
QB: Dwayne Haskins
RBs: Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice
WRs: Terry McLaurin, Trey Quinn, Cody Latimer
TEs: Jeremy Sprinkle, Logan Thomas
The Redskins added some castoffs to bolster the depth chart but it remains to be seen if any of them will make a fantasy football impact. They added backup quarterback Kyle Allen, running backs Peyton Barber and J.D. McKissic and wide receiver Cody Latimer.
Haskins sits atop the depth chart for Washington. In his nine games last season, he threw for 1,365 yards, 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Allen threw for 3,322 yards, 17 scores and 16 picks. Based on ball security, I’d want Haskins as the starter. Though, I wouldn’t draft either one.
Peterson continues to defy Father Time. He rushed for 898 yards and five touchdowns on 211 carries. Guice played in just five games last season. Guice should take over the starting role this season, making him my sleeper pick.
McLaurin was far and away the team’s best receiver with 58 catches, 919 yards and 7 touchdowns. I don’t trust any other receiver for season-long leagues regardless of who the quarterback is.
The tight end situation is just as bad. Jordan Reed is a free agent and Vernon Davis retired. This leaves Sprinkle and Thomas as the top tight ends. If you are in the market for a tight end late in the draft, Sprinkle is the one I’d target. He had 26 receptions, 241 yards and a touchdown.
That’s it for the NFC East. Three of the four teams have solid offenses with the fourth owning one or two weapons. The next division is the last in this conference, the NFC West. One team in that division made a huge trade, changing the fantasy football landscape.
