1. ILB Elandon Roberts

Like fellow linebacker Kyle Van Noy and center Ted Karras, 25-year-old Elandon Roberts has joined the Miami Dolphins after playing for Bill Belichick in New England. Makes perfect sense considering both defenders got to know Brian Flores during his stint in Foxborough as well.

A sixth-round pick from the University of Houston four years ago, he played in 60 regular-season games and 10 postseason contests for the league’s dominant team this century.

His best years came in his second and third campaigns, when he logged a combined 25 starts and accumulated 65-plus tackles each of those years. This past season, there were 16 games and only three starts and Roberts finished with 28 stops on defense. He could also be found on offense and on special teams where he made his share of plays, albeit it a less-than-memorable showing in the playoff loss to Tennessee.

Now the four-year pro hopes to help one of the poorer defensive units in the league, one that allowed a dismal 135.4 yards per game on the ground. Flores is in need of consistency and production and the fifth year in the NFL could be extra charming for Roberts.
