3. Jarvis Landry won’t catch 60 passes

The Browns offense had a lot of mouths to feed in 2019 and the addition of Hooper is only going to spread things out further in 2020. Jarvis Landry will be the wide receiver who feels the sting of Hooper’s signing the most.

He’s not going to instantly disappear from the offensive game plan, but his target share is going to take a massive hit over the course of the season. He led the team with 138 targets and 83 receptions a year ago. Both statistics will decline sharply next year.

The simple truth is that he isn’t a dynamic enough player to merit those kind of numbers. Beckham may be a nightmare off the field, but between the white lines he is one of the most talented receivers in the game. Kareem Hunt and Hooper should also be ahead of Landry in the pecking order.

Stefanski won’t feel empowered enough to minimize Landry fully in his first season though. Instead, he’ll have to lower his workload over time. Landry will get less than 60 receptions this season and you can expect that to become an issue in the Browns locker room.
