Top 10 college football teams with the biggest home-field advantages
7. LSU
One of the two Death Valley’s on this list, LSU’s Tiger Stadium is one of the biggest stadiums in college football. It sits at No. 5 in college football with a capacity of 102,321 and there is a good reason its nickname is synonymous with death.
That’s largely because most of the opposing teams entering the unfriendly confines of Tiger Stadium normally leave with a number in the loss column. Teams especially found out last season, as Heisman trophy winner Joe Burrow and the Tigers steamrolled all of college football to a 15-0 season and the national championship.
It was a season to remember for sure and a big part was how the fans rallied around Joe Burrow. But beyond just last season, the Tigers have had a ton of success even if it didn’t result in a national championship at the end of the season.
In the past decade, LSU has gone 61-8 at home winning 88.4 percent of their games there. That number is tied for No. 5 in college football with Wisconsin. Even more impressively those numbers come in a highly competitive SEC, where no matter how great a team’s home-field advantage may be, it’s still tough to win games, even on your home turf.
Despite that though, the Tigers have still managed to flourish and having a place like Death Valley to call home certainly helps.
