Top 10 college football teams with the biggest home-field advantages
5. Michigan
Michigan Stadium gets its nickname “The Big House” for a reason. It’s the biggest stadium in college football and the No. 3 biggest stadium in the world. Holding a capacity of 107,601, the stadium as only grown as the years have gone on and it will continue to be the premier viewing attraction in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
While the success hasn’t been up to the standards of what Michigan fans might want as of late, it is still impossible to deny the Wolverines hold one of the best home-field advantages in college football.
With a stadium that size, and that many fans rooting for you to fail, it has to be very difficult for opposing teams to not feel the pressure. That pressure has led the Wolverines to a 57-13 record in the past decade at home, winning 81.4 percent of their games at The Big House.
With as much negative press that seems to surround Michigan these days due to their lack of ability to win big games, that record might come as a surprise to some. But it just proves how great of an advantage they get every time they take the field at home.
So while winning games might mean a lot as far as deciphering who has a better home-field advantage than others, we have to go with what is known, and it is a known fact there aren’t many atmospheres that can top Ann Arbor on a Saturday afternoon.
