1. Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor

Mims had a good senior season at Baylor in 2019, with 66 receptions for 1,020 yards and 12 touchdowns. He topped 1,000 yards twice in his college career, with 28 touchdowns over his final three seasons. He’s got good size (6-foot-3, 207 pounds) and speed (4.4 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine), with solid marks for his route running, contested catch ability and overall physicality.

Pro Football Focus gave Mims a strong grade for his work last year (81.9), but analyst Sam Monson seems to see the possibility for more.

"When you throw on his tape, it’s hard not to see things to like right off the bat, ” he writes. “Mims is a natural hands catcher. That sounds obvious, but he doesn’t fight the ball the way some receivers do. He routinely catches it away from his body, even when faced with traffic, and does it effortlessly."

After strong showings at the Senior Bowl and the Combine, Mims is widely projected as a first-round pick. He has revealed a list of teams he has talked to, which did not include the Packers. That could be misdirection, perhaps driven by the Packers, or maybe they really haven’t talked to him. In any case, not having talked to Mims (yet) does not mean Green Bay is not interested in him. Even if they don’t talk to him, they could still draft him.

Some recent mock drafts have Mims off the board when the Packers go on the clock at No. 30. A move up to get him shouldn’t be ruled out, if general manager Brian Gutekunst doesn’t want to stand pat, tempt fate and be left to take the best wide receiver available (which could wind up being Mims anyway).
