Ranking the top 10 quarterback prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, including Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa who continue to battle it out for the top spot.

The 2002 NFL Draft class could see four quarterbacks taken in the first half with Joe Burrow projected to be the No. 1 overall pick of the Cincinnati Bengals.

The former LSU Tigers star leads our ranking of the top 10 quarterback prospects in the 2020 NFL Draft, followed by Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa who is medically cleared after his hip injury prematurely ended his season last November.

Oregon’s Justin Herbert and Utah State’s Jordan Love are two other quarterbacks likely to hear their name called in the first round. They’ll be joined by six other prospects on this list who await hearing their name called when the NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 23.

2020 NFL Draft: Top 10 quarterback prospects

1. Joe Burrow, LSU

What a meteoric rise it’s been for Burrow. Back in the summer, most believed Burrow could be a mid-round pick and now he’s destined to be the first pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and a Cincinnati Bengal.

What constituted this rise? Well, part of the credit goes to LSU passing game coordinator Joe Brady. Brady got this offense back on track and was a major cog en route to the Tigers national title. Of course, Burrow is the major reason for this rise. There was certainly some potential that flashed in 2018. He showed some solid accuracy deeper down the field and poise in the pocket, but no one could have expected 76 percent completion, 5,671 yards, 60 touchdowns, and just six picks.

So what gives Burrow the title for top quarterback in the class?

It starts with accuracy. Burrow has been excellent at every level of the field, throwing his receivers open and giving them the best chance to secure the football. His poise and pocket presence have also drastically improved. He’ll stand in and deliver against pressure and can maneuver the pocket well to buy time.

Burrow also has a great feel for rushers and when to bail out of the pocket. Decision-making is also a strength of his, as he can be a great facilitator while also showing the prowess to work through reads.

Burrow’s arm talent isn’t the greatest, and that might be the only knock on him. Everything else is great, and combine it with the “it” factor, and you’ve got one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory.
