6. Jake Fromm, Georgia

Jake Fromm starts the list of day three grades in the 2020 NFL Draft. After an injury to Jacob Eason, Fromm took over the starting duties and led the Georgia Bulldogs to the National Championship Game, falling to Tua and the Tide.

Fromm took that momentum and held the starting gig for another two seasons, leading the Bulldogs to two more SEC East titles and appearances in big bowl games. Fromm put up an impressive 8,236 passing yards in three seasons, as well as 78 touchdowns to just 18 interceptions.

Fromm’s production dipped during his junior season, and part of that falls on the lack of weapons around him. Freshman George Pickens started to figure it out later in the season, but without guys like Riley Ridley and Mecole Hardman there, it was tough for Fromm to trust a young group.

As a draft prospect, Fromm brings the best mental processing to the table of any quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft. Throwing it back to freshman year, Fromm took control of the offense and had a great grasp of what Alabama was doing and made checks at the line and great reads after the snap. He continued that throughout his years, always checking down when necessary and working through progressions in the pocket.

His issues at the next level will be accuracy deeper down the field and play-making ability. Fromm misses frequently with deeper throws, and his lack of mobility makes it difficult for him to make plays when things break down. However, his mental ability makes his floor very high, and he can be a spot starter for teams.
