7. Jacob Eason, Washington

As a freshman, quarterback Jacob Eason struggled with the Bulldogs and after Jake Fromm took over as the starter, Eason was forced to transfer. Eason was all arm strength back then and looked more like a statue in the pocket who couldn’t make any plays on the move.

He had to sit for a season after the transfer so Eason didn’t get multiple seasons to grow before the 2020 NFL Draft. Entering the 2019 season, many were wondering if his game would be any different.

Check yes on the box for that. Eason looked like a very different player in 2019. He still had the great arm talent, up there with the best in the 2020 NFL Draft class. Eason can sling it 60 yards down the field with ease and has an insane highlight reel of fitting the football into incredibly tight windows, most of which wouldn’t be advisable. His touch has improved mightily since his time at Georgia, and he looks much more comfortable throwing on the move and looks like a better athlete.

So why is he so far down the list? It comes down to two major components of playing the quarterback position. Eason struggles when pressure comes his way and it affects his mechanics and decision-making. Eason has issues processing the defense before the snap, and it leads to some bad interceptions on tape.

Is there talent to work with? Absolutely.

However, it could take a few seasons before he’s a viable option to be a starting quarterback.
