Scouting Report. Head Coach. Doug Marrone. 1. player. 52. Pick Analysis. Jacksonville Jaguars

This one is so obvious, it’s not even funny. We’re expecting a terrible year out of the Jacksonville Jaguars. They’re playing two home games in London and all their defensive stars from yesteryear are either out of Duval or want to be on the way out. Watching Gardner Minshew get a full year’s worth of starts will be cool, but he may not be good enough to keep Doug Marrone in a job.

The Jaguars need to have balance on offense and play with any semblance of energy on defense to have any shot at not being the worst team in the AFC. Adding former Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden could be huge in Minshew’s development. It could also stand as extra pressure internally Marrone may not want to feel right now. Gruden could end up replacing him.

And if owner Shahid Khan doesn’t want to give the interim gig to Gruden if he has to part ways with Marrone, it might be time to see what defensive coordinator Todd Wash has as a potential head coach. His side of the ball has been largely excellent since he’s been in Jacksonville. If the Jaguars opt to clean house and gear up to draft a quarterback next fall, Wash won’t be around.

Ultimately, the Jaguars could fire Marrone if his team goes 0-for-2 in London. When the Jaguars return to North Florida, it could already be a lost season. Jacksonville may want to position itself to be the first team picking in the 2021 NFL Draft. Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields are expected to go No. 1 and No. 2 next spring. It’s hard to visualize Marrone surviving another bad year in Duval.
