Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Clemson. Isaiah Simmons. player. LB/S. 9. 52

The Jacksonville Jaguars need a lot of help at a lot of positions. They take the best player available as a result, which is Clemson do-it-all defender Isaiah Simmons.

The versatile defender lined up all over the field during his career at Clemson, including safety, slot cornerback, edge rusher and linebacker. Basically, he was everywhere for the Tigers and he can do the same in the NFL, although maybe not as many reps as a slot corner or in deep coverage.

He may be asked to do similar things that the Chicago Bears asked of Brian Urlacher. He’ll drop in coverage and take away the middle of the field, he’ll blitz on occasion and he’ll be tackling machine from sideline-to-sideline.

Scouting Report. Tristan Wirfs. 10. player. Pick Analysis. OT. Iowa. 53

The Cleveland Browns were infatuated with adding skill position players to help support Baker Mayfield. Trading for Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry are smart moves. They’re Pro Bowl receivers for a reason but adding those receivers meant the offensive line didn’t’ get the necessary attention it required to support Mayfield.

Without a stable unit in front of him, Mayfield regressed last year and adding talent to the trenches is imperative if they’re ever going to sniff a postseason appearance. Tristan Wirfs excelled at Iowa and then opened eyes at the combine with his testing. Plug him in at either tackle spot for the next decade and he’s rock solid.
