30 retired NHL jerseys that need to be brought back into the light of day

Montreal Canadiens: 2017 NHL 100 Classic jersey
Every time the Canadiens have gone off the rails for a jersey design, it ends poorly. However, their 2017 NHL 100 Classic jersey that forwent the team’s classic red shoulder pads look should get a revisit. Montreal wouldn’t dare make this the team’s official away jersey with how sacred their sweaters are, but this one deserves a comeback.
Nashville Predators: 2009-11 alternate jersey
The short-lived time when the Predators had an alternate jersey that was just two-toned blue and white was a good time. Nashville’s commitment to wearing yellow sweaters is commendable, but they should bring back this sweater as a nice alternate to their current ensemble.
New Jersey Devils: 1982-92 jersey
I lovingly call these jerseys the “Christmas tree” jerseys whenever I see them. The Devils have used these as alternates in the past, but it’d be great to see them with a larger frequency during the season.
New York Islanders: 1995-97 jersey
Justice for the Islanders’ fishermen jerseys, honestly. Sure, the team’s current logo is more clean and less amateur than the one they rocked in the mid-1990s, but the Islanders’ third jersey leaves a lot to be desired. This jersey is iconic in the history of the Islanders, and it’d be great to see them rock it once more.
New York Rangers: 1996-07 alternate jersey
The Rangers’ Lady Liberty jerseys have not been seen since the team retired them in 2007. The team currently does not possess a third jersey — and hasn’t since 2017 — but this would make a great addition to New York’s lineup to spice up a very traditional set of sweaters.
