6. Wes Wilcox

All right, so, not really thriving in the “avoiding controversy” area there, Bulls.

As Wojnarowski reported, former Atlanta Hawks GM Wes Wilcox, who helped Danny Ferry assemble that team into a conference finalist, has interviewed for the gig. Wilcox currently serves as an analyst on NBA TV, but he worked with Ferry and succeeded him in 2015 following Ferry’s 2014 dismissal.

The 2014-15 Hawks won 60 games with their 3-point attack, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals before being obliterated by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. That team was mostly assembled by Ferry, but Wilcox has enough experience in the league to be a qualified candidate.

Unfortunately, he only lasted until 2017 and was reprimanded by the team that season for a racially insensitive joke he made in front of Hawks season ticket-holders. So yeah, maybe not the best option here.
