3rd round

850. . WR. Gamecocks . Bryan Edwards. 80. player

South Carolina’s Bryan Edwards was unable to test at the NFL Draft Combine due to injury, but it may work out for the Raiders if they can snag him in the third round.

Edwards (6-foot-3, 212 pounds) is a big target on the outside with excellent speed and athleticism. He displays outstanding body control and can shield out defensive backs to make difficult catches in tight windows. He was incredibly consistent from a production standpoint during his Gamecocks career, finishing with 500-plus yards and four-plus touchdowns in each of his four years on campus.

If his medicals check out, the Raiders will be getting one of the steals of the draft here in the third round.

. S. Utes . Terrell Burgess. 81. player. 843

Mayock would probably build an entire defense out of Clemson, Utah and Alabama players if given the chance, so here he gets to realize part of his dream with the selection of Utes safety Terrell Burgess.

Even after only being a one-year starter, Burgess’ athleticism and awareness make it unlikely he’ll slide out of the third round of this draft. The Raiders have had a lot of contact with teammate Jaylon Johnson during the draft process, so they’re likely very familiar with the type of impact Burgess could also have on their defense in his rookie year.

The Raiders could also consider Texas’ Brandon Jones and Notre Dame’s Alohi Gilman for this pick.

815. . QB. Sooners . Jalen Hurts. 91. player

How could Mayock and Gruden not fall in love with a guy who has been the leader of two of the biggest programs in college football?

Jalen Hurts has his share of issues as a passer but is an excellent athlete who has won over two separate locker rooms with his leadership. He could go a lot earlier than this, but if Jordan Love isn’t in the plans, I think Hurts is the guy they want behind Derek Carr.
