New York Giants full 2020 NFL mock draft
4th round
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Giants fans crossed their fingers as the first round came to an end. Why? Because they wanted Lamar Jackson to fall into the second round to draft their franchise quarterback.
This draft, Gettleman may have his eyes on another Lamar Jackson. This Lamar Jackson played his college football at Nebraska. He played defensive back, primarily cornerback, for four seasons.
Jackson played in 40 games for the Cornhuskers. He is a dynamic cornerback with the ability to make plays in the backfield and in pass coverage. He finished his collegiate career with two sacks, 7.5 tackles for loss and five interceptions. Last year, Jackson’s three interceptions were the second-most in the Big 10, and his 12 passes defended were also second-best in the conference.
Gettleman has spent a lot of time trying to repair the broken secondary. Last draft, he addressed this need with Deandre Baker in the first round, Julian Love in the fourth and Corey Ballentine in the sixth.
Like Gettleman did when he selected Love in the fourth round last draft, he should take Jackson in the same round this year. Jackson is bigger and more physical than those corners taken last year. He was listed at 6-foot-2 at the combine, and he ran a 4.58 40-yard dash.
Gettleman must continue to build depth in that secondary.
