2. D’Andre Swift, Georgia

Georgia running back D’Andre Swift has been the top back in the 2020 NFL Draft according to the opinion of most draft projections.

Swift has excellent traits to succeed in the NFL. The first thing that jumps out for him is his quickness and agility. His dead leg move in space is always making defenders whiff, and it’s one of the better moves in quite some time. He keeps defenders on their toes in space and is good at manipulating them because of it. Swift can “rock step” as well to make defenders commit one way or another.

The other big parts of his game are his burst and speed. Swift gets up to speed very quickly after hitting the hole and has the requisite speed to erase angles on the back end. When he kicks his runs outside, he beats pretty much anyone to the corner and can have reservations for six from anywhere on the field.

Swift has good receiving ability as well. He has natural hands and his sharp cuts make him effective when working in the middle of the field. Georgia did line him up in bunch formations at times to get him the ball, and whoever drafts him will trust him in a receiver role, as he’s one of the best in the 2020 NFL Draft.

If there’s one weakness, Swift has to work on his vision at the line of scrimmage. He too often bounces runs outside or just plows forward. He will need to be more patient at the next level.
