Fantasy football 2020 AFC South depth charts and breakout players
By Bill Pivetz
QB: Philip Rivers
RBs: Marlon Mack, Nyheim Hines
WRs: TY Hilton, Zach Pascal, Parris Campbell
TEs: Jack Doyle
The Colts made a big signing this offseason, bringing in a veteran quarterback on a one-year deal. They dealt with Jacoby Brissett and Brian Hoyer last year. Upgrading to Rivers helps everyone involved on offense. Rivers threw for 4,615 yards but had just 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. I think he’ll perform better this season, a good QB2.
Mack had another great season, rushing for over 1,000 yards for the first time with eight touchdowns on 247 carries. Jonathan Williams, Jordan Wilkins and Hines combined for another 152 carries, 741 yards and five scores. I don’t see the Colts running the ball that much with gunslinger Rivers under center. Mack should still be a top-20 running back.
The Colts dealt with a lot of injuries to their wide receivers. As a result, no receiver had more than 50 receptions, 610 yards or five touchdowns. I think Hilton and Pascal rebound greatly with Rivers on the team. Hilton is a top-25 receiver in PPR leagues. Pascal and Campbell are both sleepers heading into this season.
With Ebron going to Pittsburgh, Doyle can finally have a top-15 tight end season. Last year was hindered by the poor quarterback play. His 2018 season was cut short due to injury. He led the team in receptions and touchdowns but only had 690 yards. With a new quarterback, Doyle can have the breakout season Ebron had a couple of years ago. He’ll be drafted as a TE2.
