1. Anthony Lynn will be fired

Lynn seems to have the support and admiration of players inside his own locker room. Unfortunately, that’s the only positive thing that can really be said about his time as the Chargers’ head coach.

He was fortunate not to be fired after last year’s ugly 5-11 campaign. He won’t be that fortunate in 2020. Lynn is absolutely one of the coaches who will be in contention to be the first head man to lose their job in the upcoming season.

He may try to pin the team’s struggles on the front office’s failure to arm him with a reasonable option at starting quarterback. Lynn could also try to throw a rookie onto the field before he’s actually ready to show that he’s preparing for the future. Neither strategy should result in him keeping his job.

Instead, Lynn should be fired and replaced with a coach better suited to groom the team’s next quarterback. That may be a cliché decision in today’s NFL, but it doesn’t make it the wrong choice for a franchise in desperate need of a new direction.
