Best landing spots for Jordan Love

3. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons, at some point, must begin planning for a future that does not include the franchise’s long time quarterback Matt Ryan. The former 3rd overall draft pick will be 35 when/if the 2020 season kicks off. And recently, the team has been linked with a possible trade up from the 16th overall pick to select one of the draft’s best signal callers.

This would be a dream spot for Love. The Utah State product seems unprepared to lead a franchise from the jump, but sitting and learning behind a former NFL MVP for two seasons would be a near perfect result for him.

The only thing keeping this from being the best possible outcome is the reality that Matt Ryan has shown no desire or ability to groom a young, backup quarterback into an NFL caliber starter. If Ryan is willing to and can do that, the former Utah State star should love to call Atlanta home.

2. New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints will leave the 2020 draft with a quarterback selection somewhere. This offseason, Drew Brees signed a two year extension that has all the hallmarks of a possible one year union. In addition, the future Hall of Famer has already signed a contract with NBC to join the broadcast booth upon retirement. As such, finding a quarterback of the future is imperative.

The franchise has asserted that Taysom Hill is that person. And, maybe he is. Regardless, the Saints would be remiss not to bring in another quarterback for at least competition for that title.

And Love fits that bill to a tea. The former 2nd team All-MWC player would benefit from learning behind a legend like Brees. And, Brees has given every indication of being a willing and able participant in the groom process.

Landing in New Orleans would be big and make life easy for Jordan Love.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tom Brady signed this offseason with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His two year contract assures that Tampa Bay will be seeking a long term starter in the near future to groom under the future Hall of Fame quarterback. Jordan Love could be the answer for the Bucs.

Again, Love is unlikely to be capable of coming in and being an NFL starter. However, tutelage behind the greatest of all time would go a long way in helping him get ready.

Brady has a long history of bringing along quarterbacks and turning them into NFL starters: Matt Cassel, Jimmy Garroppolo, and soon (supposedly) Jarret Stidham, just to name a few.

Jordan Love should be willing to give up a pirate’s bounty to land with the Bucs in the draft.
