Cornerback. San Francisco 49ers. Kristian Fulton. 31. player. 42.

The San Francisco 49ers looked like their defense was going to help them to a Super Bowl title this past February, before Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes led his team back from a second half deficit. The exploitation of San Francisco’s secondary was apparent, and they should add talent to the cornerback room at pick No. 31.

Kristian Fulton is considered by many as the third-best cornerback in this draft class, and would be a perfect fit in San Francisco here at the bottom of the first round. San Francisco has the talent to be right back in a deep playoff run next season, but they need to make sure they continue to add to young and talented defense.

Richard Sherman is not getting any younger, and Fulton is actually a prospect that I have seen in other mock drafts going much higher in round one. If he is available, the 49ers will get a player they can eventually build the position group around.

Kansas City Chiefs. Jeff Gladney. 32. player. 124. . Cornerback

Last season, one of the big worries when it came to the Kansas City Chiefs was whether or not they would be strong in the seconday. To deal with the issues, they brought in Tyrann Mathieu, and he helped solidify a defensive backfield that was much better than advertised. At pick No. 32 in the first round, they continue to add there.

Jeff Gladney is the kind of ball-hawking cornerback that could end up being a very good player at the NFL level. The Chiefs have some veterans in the defensive backfield that can help him reach his potential as the Chiefs attempt to match their incredible offense with some young defensive playmakers.

The Chiefs will absolutely be in the mix to repeat next season, as they have done a nice job retaining most of the talent that helped them to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years in February. As long as Patrick Mahomes is under center, this team will be one to beat in the AFC, and here, they continue to add to their improving defense.
