2020 NFL mock draft: Dolphins trade up for Tua Tagovailoa
By Brad Weiss
The Denver Broncos hold the No. 15 overall selection, and they could certainly dip into a very strong wide receiver group. Last year, rookie Drew Lock showed he can win games at the NFL level, and adding another wide receiver to a group that already includes Courtland Sutton is certainly a possibility.
However, the loss of Chris Harris Jr. to their secondary is a big one even with the trade for A.J. Bouye, and sitting in the middle of the first round, they could add a talented player in C.J. Henderson from Florida. With how soft this draft class is in top talent at corner, guys like Henderson and Jeffrey Okudah are the only ones I see going in the top half of the first round.
Denver is going to be an interesting team to watch next season, as they added talent on both sides of the ball already during free agency. If Lock is the real deal, John Elway has found his quarterback, and that could spell trouble for the AFC in 2020 and beyond.
The Atlanta Falcons round out the first half of the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and with the pick, they add to their defense. There are plenty of changes going on in Atlanta on that side of the ball, as they will be without two key veterans in cornerback Desmond Trufant and edge rusher Vic Beasley Jr. in 2020.
Of course, grabbing a player like K’Lavon Chaisson from LSU to fill in the void left by Beasley makes a lot of sense here too, but Javon Kinlaw could end up being the steal of this draft at No. 16. For the Falcons, they need help up front on defense, and Kinlaw is arguably the most versatile defensive linemen in this entire draft class.
Dan Quinn was lucky his team played well down the stretch last season, but a slow start to the 2020 campaign could spell the end of his tenure in Atlanta. This is a team that was in the Super Bowl a few years ago, and if they can get the right mix during the draft, they should be a problem in the NFC again this season.
