3. Adam Trautman, tight end, Dayton

The tight end class isn’t very talented this year, but Dayton’s Adam Trautman could end up being the top player at tight end in the 2020 NFL Draft. Trautman joined the others on this list with his attendance at the Senior Bowl, after posting a 2019 stat line of 70 catches, 916 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Trautman had a good week down in Mobile, showcasing his abilities as a receiving tight end. He looked fluid as a route runner and look comfortable high-pointing the football and securing it through tight coverage.

On tape, there are elements to his game to like and some he needs to work on. Like in Mobile, Trautman will thrive in the NFL in the red zone and he’s your guy if you need someone to win a 50-50 ball. He possesses some quick twitch at the top of his stem as a route runner and can clear out contact with effective hand swipes.

Teams like to have well-rounded players at tight end, and while Trautman is a competitive blocker, there are times he just throws his shoulder at defenders, something that will need to be corrected in the NFL. His upside, combined with a weak class, could mean he’s the first one off the board.
