4th round

The midseason acquisition of Kenyan Drake saved what was looking like an otherwise dismal running back group for the Cards last season. Now with David Johnson off to Houston, the Cardinals seemed primed to add a running back in this draft.

In the fourth round, they don’t have to look too far from the team’s headquarters to find Arizona State’s Enjo Benjamin.

Benjamin is a bit undersized to be an every-down back at the NFL but his elite footwork and ability to force missed tackles will give him a great chance to succeed, particularly in an offense like Kingsbury’s.

Benjamin, a Texas native, was recruited by Texas Tech during Kingsbury’s time in Lubbock. Now, the Cards’ head man finally gets his chance at adding a dynamic playmaker like Benjamin into his offense.

By all accounts, the Cardinals have done plenty of homework on the tight ends in this draft but it’s really tough to figure out who their target might be.

Arizona targeted tight ends on just 10.6 percent of their offensive snaps in 2019, so I can’t imagine them investing at the position any earlier than this spot.

If they want to go for an upside pick, Stanford’s Colby Parkinson may be their guy. Parkinson is huge and a good enough athlete to get some reps at wide receiver or as a big target in the slot, which is how Kingsbury could envision using him in the NFL.
