1. Darrell Taylor, EDGE, Tennessee

The most underrated player in the NFL Draft is Tennessee pass rusher Darrell Taylor. NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah labeled Taylor one of the most likely players to be drafted earlier than expected.

Taylor is explosive off the ball and violent power which makes him an excellent rusher off the edge as either an outside linebacker in a 3-4 or a defensive end in a 4-3 defense.

The other big advantage that Taylor has is size – he’s a big man. At 6-foot-4 and 267 pounds, Taylor uses long arms and legs to bend around the outside edge of defenses.

In fact, the biggest knocks are Taylor all correctable. He needs more counter moves to combat skilled and intelligent tackles to sustain his rush throughout games and across seasons. This will take time but given that time Taylor is likely to develop into an excellent pass rusher for his NFL team.

Taylor has been projected as low as a fifth round pick in some circles, though Jeremiah’s news clearly indicates he’s moving up boards. Taylor would make a great end of round two selection and any team that gets him in the third should be immensely excited.
