Las Vegas Raiders on the road

Last season, everything went off the rails for the Indianapolis Colts when they went to London. That’s where they faced the then Oakland Raiders. The Colts went into the game as 6.5-point favorites, but ended up going down 24-10 before eventually losing 31-24. It wasn’t a death knell, and the Colts even beat the eventually Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs the very next week. However, this game showed an opening in the armor.

The Colts’ season completely folded when Jacoby Brissett got hurt, and he never truly recovered. They went 2-7 over the last nine games of the season, and the Colts learned Brissett is not enough to take them into their post-Andrew Luck era. It all started with that loss to the Raiders.

This season, these two teams are going to be competing for the lower seeds in the AFC. They aren’t in the class of the Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs, but it wouldn’t be crazy to think they’ll both be going after the final Wild Card spot when it’s all said and done.

That means the Colts need to win this game to get a leg up at the end of the season. Jon Gruden has his Raiders going in the right direction, as does having five first-round picks in two seasons. These two teams will need the win, but if the Colts want to prove they are a winning team now that Philip Rivers is under center, these are the games they need to win.
