Anything better than a 3-3 record in AFC West play would be great for the Broncos. Though 6-0 and 5-1 are probably not possible, 4-2 could still be in play. Assuming Denver doesn’t get swept by the Kansas City Chiefs, which could happen, but let’s not try to make this more complicated than it has to, Denver would need to beat one of its rivals on the road to get to 4-2.

Though one could argue beating the Las Vegas Raiders in Southern Nevada is doable, the easier road date would be at the Los Angeles Chargers in Inglewood. Keep in mind the Chargers were the worst team in the AFC West last year. While they should be better than they were a year ago, they’ll be opening up a new stadium without hardly any fans in the Greater Los Angeles area.

This is key in making a road date more winnable. We know how loud it can get at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Though it may take some time for Raider Nation to get used to their new home, Allegiant Stadium will eventually yield a strong home-field advantage for the Silver and Black. As for the Bolts, developing a following in Los Angeles remains a great work in progress.

Add in that the Chargers are likely to start either Tyrod Taylor at quarterback or a rookie out of college, this doesn’t make it next to impossible for Drew Lock to go into a rival’s building and get a win. Let’s not forget that new Broncos running back Melvin Gordon used to star for the Bolts. No doubt he’ll take these two games vs. the Chargers personally when they meet this fall.
