2. Justin Herbert

Herbert has a chance to develop into an excellent NFL quarterback. There’s also a strong possibility that he’s out of the league when his rookie contract expires. His low floor makes him entirely undeserving of his status as a top 10 pick.

It’s easy to understand how scouts fall in love with his game. He’s a big, agile athlete with the speed to make plays out on the edge. Add that to his excellent arm strength and there’s a ton of projection to his game.

The challenge is that his collegiate tape just isn’t that good. Inaccuracy plagued him for the majority of his career at Oregon. They made the game easy for him with their scheme and he still struggled to make routine throws on a regular basis.

Herbert is a quarterback who’d be worth the risk at the end of Round 1. The idea that he could be selected in the top five, ahead of Tua Tagovailoa, is one of the craziest things about this year’s draft. He’s got a great chance to get the general manager that drafts him fired.
