8. CB Trevon Diggs, Alabama

At the front end of this round, another Alabama star could be in the mix. The brother of Buffalo Bill’s wide receiver Stefon Diggs, Trevon found his success on the other side of the ball. Like his brother though, he actually went to college as a wide receiver. Trevon Diggs played offense, defense, and special teams in 15 games as a true freshman for Nick Saban’s team. He made the full swing to defense in 2017 and never looked back.

As a senior Diggs started 12 contests and earned third-team AP All-American and second-team All-SEC accolades after intercepting three passes. He also recovered two fumbles last season, returning one of them, 100 yards for a score.

The prior receiver skills that Diggs developed give him a great feel for the position and flow that his opponents have. His height. weight and strength give him Aqib Talib-like skills to attacker larger wideouts, and he should have a long NFL career.

Most teams welcome an improvement in the defensive backfield, and there really is no telling just where a player with Diggs’ skillset may land.
