Houston Texans 2020 NFL Draft grades: Ross Blacklock joins J.J. Watt
By Matt Conner
Best pick
Nothing wrong with getting a well-rounded defensive cornerstone in the third round, but that’s exactly what Greenard profiles as—if he can reach his potential. Given the presence of others like Watt and Mercilus around him, Greenard seems a safe bet to show himself as a stout run defender as well as a legitimate pass rushing threat. A nice grab for O’Brien so late at pick No. 90 overall.
Worst pick
Coulter could end up as a nice asset in the passing game in time and there’s nothing wrong with an upside play, but it wouldn’t have been surprising to find him a round or two later. The lack of overall choices might have forced O’Brien’s hand here.
Then again, it’s a bit in the weeds to complain about a fifth round pick as a reach. The only real complaint here should be about the overall offseason approach of BOB.
