Pick Analysis. OG. player. 879. Scouting Report. Clemson. John Simpson. 109

The Raiders have been thinking about moving on from Gabe Jackson. They also have Richie Incognito signed only though 2020, so guard is about to be a need for Las Vegas. Coming from Clemson, Simpson has all the tools to be a terrific run-blocker. The main concern here is whether he’s quick enough to handle sudden interior rushers.

Simpson was compared on NFL.com to Kelechi Osemele. If he becomes three-quarters of Osemele, this is a phenomenal pick. The Raiders are clearly trying to build up their offense around quarterback Derek Carr, and this goes towards that goal.

Louisiana Tech. Amik Robertson. player. 2119. Scouting Report. CB. 139. Pick Analysis

Robertson brings more competition to the Raiders in their secondary. After landing Damon Arnette in the first round, Mayock doubled back and added another quality cornerback out of Conference USA.

At 5-foot-8 and 187 pounds, size is an obvious concern. However, the AFC West is loaded with fast receivers and Robertson can run. The big question is whether the lack of frame becomes an unavoidable problem, but with good technique, Robertson has a chance to make his mark at the next level.
