Second Round

Pick Analysis. WR. Baylor. Denzel Mims. 59. player. Scouting Report. 30

Somehow, some way, Baylor’s Denzel Mims fell all the way to the bottom of the second round in the 2020 NFL Draft. The wide receiver group is a deep one this year, but many saw Mims as a potential first rounder. He is a steal for the Jets due to the position where they got him.

Mims should be an immediate starter for New York, along with a mix of Breshad Perriman, Quincy Enunwa and Jamison Crowder. Sam Darnold will have a great new weapon to play with this season.

At Baylor, Mims went off with 66 catches, 1,020 receiving yards, and 12 receiving TDs in 14 starts as a senior. The outside target has a huge catch radius, and will use his size and speed to become an instant impact player. Mims will thrive in the red zone, helping the Jets create mismatches that they can take advantage of.

Mims does need to do a little better utilizing that size, but the right coaching can bring that out of him. For now, Mims is a player with an extremely high ceiling, and the Jets will be glad to have him if it all works out in his career.
